How do students take their proctored exams?

(School Administrators)

Each semester exam has an exam password. Partner Coordinators are automatically designated as the proctor for their students and will receive the exam password from the course instructor through a message in the portal when it is time to take the exam. Partner Coordinators may select to have Guardians be the proctors for their students. This setting can be changed in the portal through the student's profile.

Students typically complete a Discussion Based Assessment (DBA) or phone conference prior to taking the semester exam. This is when the instructor knows that the student is ready to complete the exam and will send out the exam password. Partner Coordinators may also request the password by sending a message to the instructor through the portal.

Alternatively, Partner Coordinators may elect to use the administrative exam password  that can be found in the announcement section of the portal. This admin exam password  is an override password for all semester exams and will allow students to access any semester exam in any Sevenstar online course at any time. Partner Coordinators may use this password as needed to allow students to access their semester exams. After you log into the portal, here is a screenshot of how to find it in two easy steps:

Please be sure to keep exam passwords secret and not distribute them to students or parents. Exam proctors should always enter the exam passwords for students.

Here are some important things to know about semester exams:

1. Some semester exams are divided into multiple sections. For example, a semester exam could have a Part A, Part B, and Part C. Please be sure that your student completes all sections of the exam to earn credit. They do not need to complete all sections in one sitting. They may take breaks between each sitting. You may discuss these options with the course instructor.

2. Students need to submit all assignments for the semester as listed in the gradebook. Any assignment that has not been submitted will receive a zero grade. Once any portion of the semester exam has been taken, students are not permitted to go back and complete unfinished work in the semester. Please discuss any questions or concerns with the course instructor prior to beginning the semester exam.

3. If there are any technical issues during the exam, please submit a ticket immediately to document the problem. Please take screenshots if possible so that our team can help troubleshoot the issue and the academic team can offer an exam retry as needed.
